Because That's Just How Life Works

I tried to get the husband to watch the Gangnam Style video the other day.

“Pass.”

I told him that, like, one third of the planet has viewed this video. It’s a world-wide pop culture phenomenon. Aren’t you curious?

“Nope.”

See, there’s a type of person who wants to see what all the fuss is about. Who wants to be kept in the pop culture reference loop so they’re not standing around going, “Huh?” when someone says, “Whope! Gangnam style!”

And the type of person who’s content to be left out.

There’s the type of person who will stand in line for the iPhone five and half on the first day it’s available.

And the type of person who, on a regular basis, declares that he could get by perfectly well with no cell phone at all.

There’s the type of person who tries to get other people to read, listen to, and watch new things.

And the type of person who doggedly resists reading, listening to, and watching what everyone else is reading, listening to, and watching.

These two types of people inevitably get married. Because that's just how life works.

Which type are you?

I'm in the middle, but only because full hermitude is forbidden those who teach. I like to know what my students are talking about. Otherwise, yeah, I'd be at home with my computer living in my own little world (okay, I'd love to have an iphone anything, but really, who am I kidding?)
I'm in the middle. I don't want to feel that life has passed me by (I think when you stop learning and adapting is when you start getting old), but I'm also an extreme homebody and don't need to follow the crowd.
Well, I wouldn't stand in line for an iPhone, but I did, in fact, look up "Gangnam Style" just the other day to see what the hoopla was all about.
my brother sent me the link, said it was hilarious. Usually we are in agreement on these things but this time...not so much. It was fun, but not funny - imo.
When it comes to iPhones, my husband was the early adopter and I was the one who held out until this year to get one (but I'm so glad I did). I haven't seen the Gangnam video, but will watch it right now. I've never heard of Gangnam and have no idea what it is, and I'm guessing my husband doesn't either. UPDATE: Just watch it. Very funny! Where have I been while the other 500,000,000 people were watching this?
